Carboxytherapy for Dark Under-Eyes

Dark under-eye circles can make you look tired, even when you’re well-rested. Carboxytherapy is a safe, non-surgical treatment that uses tiny injections of carbon dioxide (CO₂) to improve circulation, boost collagen production, and restore a brighter, more refreshed appearance to the under-eye area.

Carboxytherapy involves the gentle injection of medical-grade CO₂ gas just beneath the skin. This process naturally increases blood flow, encourages oxygen delivery, and stimulates collagen repair. First developed in France in the 1930s, carboxytherapy has since been widely used in Europe and South America to treat concerns like cellulite, stretch marks, scars, and skin laxity—with impressive results.

Many patients also notice improvements in fine lines, texture, and overall brightness under the eyes. This quick treatment reduces dark circles, fine lines, and tired-looking skin with little to no downtime. For best results, a series of 2–6 sessions is recommended.

Carboxy Therapy for Dark Under Eye Circles

Carboxytherapy can dramatically improve the appearance of dark under-eye circles. Although sometimes caused by darkened pigment, or a hollow depression below the lower eyelids [tear trough deformity], the majority of dark under-eye circles are caused by poor circulation beneath the lower eyelids [vascular pooling]. Dr. Zdinak designed and conducted the first study in the English literature using carboxytherapy for rejuvenating the under- eye region. She found that by injecting a small amount of carbon dioxide gas just beneath the skin of the lower eyelid, circulation was increased and dark under-eye circles were markedly improved. The treatment takes only five minutes, and is virtually painless and risk-free. A series of 2-6 treatments spaced one week apart is all that is required to achieve a great result.

Is there any downtime with Carboxytherapy?

Carboxytherapy is a technique with very little downtime. Injection are insufflating co2 gas which is a natural gas produced by the body itself. The body has all the systems to eliminate this amount of CO2 in a few minutes. Although immediate visual effects of gas injections may be important, almost 100% of the patient leave the office with nothing anyone may notice.
